Bio-diesel can be produced from a variety of feed stocks, such as soybean oil (United States), palm oil (Malaysia), rapeseed and sunflower oil (Europe) and jatropha oil(India). The feedstock for bio-diesel undergoes an esterification process that removes glycerin and allows the oil to perform like normal diesel.

A number of researches have proved that bio-diesel has fuel properties and provides engine performance, which is very similar to that of diesel fuel. The fuel is non toxic, bio degradable and renewable fuel.
